Member countries
LA Referencia currently brings together eight Latin American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Uruguay) and one European country (Spain). These countries have national nodes that in turn group a range of local repositories, mainly from universities.
Following LA Referencia technical standards, each country's network acts as the effective bridge to integrate contents into the scientific documents Search Engine. In several countries the nodes are operated by the national science and technology agency, while in others the operation is delegated to a university consortium or academic network.
Argentina
Sistema Nacional de Repositorios Digitales
Partner country of LA Referencia, it has developed national initiatives on Repositories and Open Access, including the National System of Digital Repositories in Science and Technology and the Open Access Law. It is a signatory to LA Referencia’s main agreements.
Brazil
Portal Brasilero de Acesso Abierto a la Información Científica
Partner country of LA Referencia, it has developed national initiatives on Repositories and Open Access, notably: the Brazilian Open Access Portal for Scientific Information – oasisbr, the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations – BDTD, the Directory of Open Access Policies of Brazilian Scientific Journals – Diadorim, and the Electronic Journal Publishing System – SEER/OJS, among others. It is a signatory to LA Referencia’s main agreements.
Chile
Sistema de Información Científica - SIC
Partner country of LA Referencia that has developed national initiatives to promote the use of open repositories, as well as to advance open access and open science practices in the territory, through instruments funded by ANID and the implementation of the Open Access Policy for Scientific Information and Research Data. It is also a signatory to LA Referencia’s main agreements.
Costa Rica

Costa Rica joined LA Referencia in 2016.
Ecuador
Red de Repositorios Abiertos del Ecuador - RRAAE
A partner country of the LA Referencia Project, it has developed several national initiatives in the area of institutional repositories and open access, including the creation of a network of digital repositories, the Metadata Applications Project, and training to standardize repositories. It is a signatory of the main LA Referencia agreements.
Spain
RECOLECTA
Spain is a partner country of LA Referencia through the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, F.S.P. (FECYT). FECYT drives the open access movement in Spain by collaborating on the proper design and implementation of open access and Open Science policies at the national and European levels. Through RECOLECTA, or Open Science Harvester, FECYT operates the national aggregator of open access repositories. This platform brings together all the Spanish digital infrastructures where research results are published and/or deposited in open access.
Panama
Portal de Repositorios Institucionales de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación de Literatura Abierta
As a partner country of the LA Referencia project, it has developed national initiatives and projects on Open Access , which can be summarized as follows: the creation of the National Publications Repository (PRICILA) , the implementation of a national CRIS system , a national research data repository , among others.
Peru
Acceso Libre a Información Científica para la Innovación
Partner country of the LA Referencia Project, it has developed national initiatives in the field of Repositories and Open Access, among which stand out: the use of repositories registered in OpenDOAR, repositories in the public sector, and data repositories. It is a signatory of the main agreements of LA Referencia.
Uruguay
Sistema Nacional de Repositorios Digitales
Partner country of the LA Referencia Project, it has developed national initiatives in the field of Repositories and Open Access.

The countries that are part of LA Referencia have signed technical and organizational agreements through their public science and technology institutions, together with RedCLARA. If your country is not yet part of the network, we invite you to work with those institutions and encourage them to join by demonstrating the value of participation.
