LA Reference is one of the winners of the JROST fund for the development of open projects and technologies
Invest in Open Infrastructure (IOI), an initiative dedicated to improving funding and resources for open technologies and systems that support research, announced the winners of the JROST 2020 Rapid Response Fund. LA Reference was one of them.
This fund was awarded to LA Reference to consolidate the development of a “usage statistics” service, started as a pilot in 2020 in the context of the OpenAIRE project that is coming to an end. Thanks to this award, it will be possible to continue the technical work that has been carried out, this “will allow the research community to better understand the impact of Open Science.”
The fund is part of the efforts of IOI, an organization that emerged as a concept and coalition from the 2018 Joint Roadmap for Open Science Tools (JROST) conference, held in Berkeley, CA. The award was created as a means to give back to the open infrastructure and technology community. This year the aid ranged between USD 5,000 and USD 10,000 and it was intended that they be allocated to activities that are necessary and that would not be possible, or would be in danger, without this financing.
According to IOI, this year the fund was made possible thanks to the generosity of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative , Crossref , ITHAKA , Hypothesis and Invest in Open Infrastructure.
