Bogotá, D.C. May 14, 2021. The Colombian Scientific Information Network -RedCol, program of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, presents to Colombians the “Covid-19 Collection”, in order to enhance the access, visibility, circulation and management of national scientific information based on the components of Open Science.
In the “Covid-19 Collection” research is consolidated, with constant updates, according to new products that are published in the country from institutions linked to the network. This initiative contributes to the generation of new knowledge that provides solutions in the collective fight against the pandemic. Currently, the “Covid-19 Collection” has 228 research products from 23 Colombian institutions.
“With this we want to expand knowledge and contribute to the generation of data for decision-making, but also for the information of all citizens, which is why the Colombian Scientific Information Network is committed to making our repository bigger and bigger,” said the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Mabel Gisela Torres Torres.
In addition, RedCol is renewed with a digital platform that provides navigation facilities and consolidates more actors of the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation. With respect to the globalization of knowledge, RedCol is now part as a Colombia Node in the Federated Network of Open Access Repositories to Science -LA Reference, for the exchange and provision of national scientific production in international scientific information networks and initiatives, thus setting a precedent for students, academics and researchers. This is how RedCol is consulted daily from other countries such as Mexico, Peru, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Venezuela and Brazil.
